Kimberlee Bethany Bonura, Ph.D.

Kimberlee Bethany Bonura, PhD

A University Fellow for the 2003 - 2004 academic year, Kimberlee Bethany Bonura completed her Master’s of Science in Educational Psychology, with a major in Sport and Exercise Psychology, from the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the College of Education, in Summer 2005. In 2007, she completed her Ph.D. from the same program.

In addition to teaching yoga classes to FSU employees through the Employee Training program, Kimberlee worked as a research assistant, and taught her own class for five semesters. She also participated in the Program for Instructional Excellence workshops, earning her PIE certificate in 2004 and 2005.

Kimberlee describes her experience at FSU as very positive and rewarding. She is gracious for the concern for the individual student and the support provided from her department and the greater FSU community. Kimberlee explains that FSU provided her with many opportunities to grow both as a teacher and a researcher, preparing her for a career in academia.

Since leaving Florida State University, Kimberlee was an Instructor in the Department of Physical Education at the US Military Academy, West Point, NY, from 2006 - 2007. Currently, Kimberlee is in a 2-year position as an Assistant Professor at the US Military Academy, where she serves as the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and an Instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership.

The Office of Graduate Studies would like to congratulate Kimberlee and her major professor, Gershon Tenenbaum, on her award winning dissertation, “The Impact of Yoga on Psychological Health in Older Adults.” Kimberlee is the recipient of the 2008 American Psychological Association Division 47 Dissertation Award, as well as, the 2008 Association for Applied Sport Psychology Dissertation Award.

Kimberlee was an Assistant Professor at the US Military Academy, serving as the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and an Instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, for Academic Year 2007 - 2008. She is now the Associate Director of University Policies and Procedures, Office of Faculty Development, Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Her success, Kimberlee describes, has been made possible by the support and encouragement of her professors and research committee at Florida State University. Kimberlee says, “FSU and Tallahassee are a wonderful place to live and work, and I will always hold my years in the FSU community as a cherished memory.”
