My research interests are education policy. Specifically, I am interested in college-readiness policies and the impact of policy on teachers.
I was recently awarded Teacher of the Year for my school. While this is not directly related to my graduate school experience, it is a reminder of the balance I maintain between graduate studies and my dedication to my students.
Upon my inclusion to the Fellows Society as a Gates Scholar, I have felt fellowship and a sense of belonging. I work full time as a teacher at a local middle school, so it is difficult to network and get to know other graduate students. The Fellows Society helps me connect to other scholars in a various disciplines. I like knowing I have a network of support. Being a part of the Fellows Society has made my time at Florida State as a Gator pleasantly tolerable.
